There is a public health center "Yupia" at the Terazu area in the west of Tendo city. And the number of visitor broke through 2,500,000 on January 14, 2001. It took only three years and 9 months from opening.

The 2,500,000th visitor the ISHIKAWA family received many variety presents, a free taking a bath ticket for one year from the mayor of Tendo city, a memorial music box from the Automatic Musical Instruments "ARSBEL" and bouquet from the shop in the "Yupia". The public health center "Yupia" was opened on Thursday, April 17, 1997. It is very popular because there is a big open-air bath and the fee is only 200 yen.

In Yamagata highway, they construct more 2 traffic lanes in order to correspond to an increase of traffic volume between the Yamagata-Kita interchange and Yamagata-Zao interchange. And, One of new tunnels "Aono Tunnel"(545 meters) was penetrated on January 12. They started to dig it in December, 1999. They finished to penetrate it in 13 months.

A section between the Yamagata-Kita interchange and the Yamagata-Zao interchange was opened to traffic as a tentative 2 traffic lanes in July, 1991. However, a number of traffic increases to 7,600 cars per a day. So, in December, 1998, the nation sent a order to construct more 2 trafic lanes in order to break off a traffic jam and secure traffic conditions. There are 5 tunnels which they dug newly "Aono tunnel", "Takahara tunnel", "Yamaya tunnel", "Soutsuki tunnel" and "Sakazuki tunnel". This time the "Aono tunnel" was penetrated, only ONE tunnel "Sakazuki tunnel" (1.2 kilometer) left.

At the station building "Palte", they started to have an exhibition of masterpieces of cultural and sports facilities by schedules from January 12 to January 14. The heavy snowfall at the beginning of the year made the damage of blackouts, car accidents, etc. Tendo city office established "the Tendo snow damage task force" on January 5. The end of last year, large quantities of chinch bugs occurred in Yamadera district of Yamagata city. There seems to be a tradition that "The year that large quantities of chinch bugs occurred in becomes heavy snowfall". This winter becomes right same as that tradition.

In whole Tendo, at least 3 people got an injury when they remove the snow from a roof and fell down. And by the heavy snowfall, the traffic a road was stopped, a branch of a fruit tree was broken, a tree was fell down and an electric wire run out... Many accidents happened in whole Tendo city. A road was delayed day after day, a train didn't work same as a diagram. February is comming soon and it becomes colder and colder, I become unpleasant a little.

An average use percentage drops to 40% level, the flight between Yamagata and Hakodate is worried about the abolition by a problem of profit. Yamagata local goverment announced that there is a strong probability to continue the flight in 2001.

"Montedio Yamagata", one team of a Japanese professional league of soccer "J2", they announced new members. From present season, Mr.Kouichi HASHIRATANI took office as supervision afresh and he started to get new members last December.

As a result, he made a pure domestic production(only Japanese) team, 17 members from a last season and new 9 members. They said that he gave up to get foreign players because of a financial problem. However, there is no wall of language. I think that there is a merit at a point of understanding of a player each other.

In future, they have a training camp to reinforce in Kamogawa, Chiba pref. from February 13 to February 23. And after that, they have many practice games with other professional teams. Last season, there were many matches to be disappointed. So at a present season, I want them to try hard to be the high rank.

The flight between Yamagata and Hakodate, it was established in 1998, they operated as a season flight from June 1 to October 31 every year. In a first year they operated four services a week, in a second and third year they operated every day. However, a tourist decreased sharply because of an eruption of Mt. Usu-zan. There were only 46% of an average use rate in 2000, 9 points less than an average in 1999.

About the service in 2001, Yamagata local goverment discussed with the flight company NAL and it seems to be adjusted that it is operated equally until now. So they will operate from June by the end of October. The flight company NAL request a local cooperation, thay will take a promotion event in Hakodate. June is just a season of a cherry in Tendo. I want them to promote a cherry of Tendo by all means.

The local professional volleyball team "Pioneer Red Wings" takes part in the professional league in Japan "V league" now. This time they played with the "JT" and "Touyoubou" in Yamagata city on January 13 and 14. They won against the team "JT", but lost against "Touyoubou". Their total grade was 4 won and 5 lost.

They had a result of 1 won and 1 lost in a local end, they finished the first "V league" with the 6th grade. Soon later they take part in a latter half of a game.
