- This is the religious ceremony. They gather onis (devils) all over the world and they make every oni become human beings. They say that the spring will come after this ceremony.

- Hina-matsuri (the festival of the Japaese dolls)
- They display many old Japanese dolls at the old city office in Tendo.

- Contest of Miss Koma-no-Zyou [1st Sunday]
- They choose the Miss Japanese chess to promote the tourism in Tendo. She appears at the Human Japanese Chess.
- Game of shogi in Yamagata Prefecture [2nd Sunday]
- Many children come to Tendo from any place in Yamagata Prefecture to win the game of Japanese chess.
- Festival of Japanese chess dance [3rd Sunday]
- This festival is for all people who study Japanese dancing in Tendo. They show us the dance "Hana Koma Odori" which was made in Tendo.
- Ningen Shogi (Festival of Human Japanese Chess Game) [4th Saturday and Sunday]
- This is the festival that some famous professional Japanese chess player play the Japanese chess what every piece of Japanese chess is human.
- The fishing contest [every on 29]
- Many people contest with each other for fishing.
- Parade of children wearing beautiful [every year 29]
- Many children wearing beautiful clothes and making up parade in the street.

- Festival of the azalea [still middle of the month]
- We have a festival of flowers, azalea. There are some fields at the west side of the Mt. Maizuru.

- Picking up the cherry [still the middle of the month]
- We can pick up and eat the cherry at the field for tourist. The fee is 1,200 yen per a person.
- Beautiful Lipmark Contest [still the end of August]
- This contest is only for the people who stayed at the Tendo spa. Not only women but also men and children can take part in this contest.

- Opening ceremony of campsite [the begining of the month]
- We can use there to November before it snow. There is the promenade "Tendo Kogen Fususato Sizen no Michi" around there from 1996.
- Festival of the saflower [from the middle to the end of the month]
- This festival is at the area "Kami-Nukuzu" which is the southeast in Tendo. It takes about 5 minutes from the spa area. We can try the contest of photograpy and to dye the cloth by saflower.
- Beautiful Lipmark Contest [still the end of August]
- This contest is only for the people who stayed at the Tendo spa. Not only women but also men and children can take part in this contest.

- This is the national contest for junior high school students.

- Festival at the "Tendo Kogen" [August 31 in 1997]
- At the heights in Tendo, we can eat beef in Tendo and drink wine, Japanese sake in Tendo.

- People who live, work and study in Tendo dance at the spa area.
- Parade of the dance "Hanakoma" [every on 9]
- There are some parades, the dance of "Hana Koma Odori" and "Mikoshi" .

- They climb the Mt. Kita-Omoshiro(north Omoshiro) from the heights in Tendo with looking red leaves.
- Contest of the flower, chrysanthemum
- This is the contest for the people who plant the chrysanthemum in Tendo.
- Festival of red leaves
- They light up the red leaves at the "Kakuchi Gakusya". The red leaves in Tendo appears the Japanese folk song "Yamagata Hanagasa".

- Yuyaku Nenbutsu [every on 17]
- This is a kind of religious ceremony. They chant sutras and dance with ringing the religious bells.

- This contest is for the amateurs of Japanese chess.

- Many citizens take part in the contest of Japanese chess.
- Free to enter "Museum of Japanese chess"
- There is the Museum of Japanese chess at the first floor of the Tendo station. We can enter there in that day.
