News in Tendo (3rd week in Mar, 1999)

Mar. 21 (Sun.) Came back winter (the highest 5.6C /the lowest -2.1C /weather - snow)

Insted of the Indian summer until the previous day, it was snow today. It became snow suddenly when I tried to replace the tire of the car to the summer tire. This weather seems to last for 2 or 3 days. Consecutive holidays seem to be spoilt all the way...

Mar. 20 (Sat.) (the highest 5.1C /the lowest 2.3C /weather - cloudy)

Mar. 19 (Fri.) (the highest 12.4C /the lowest 7.3C /weather - rain)

Mar. 18 (Thu.) Only 1 flight to Tokyo (the highest 21.4C /the lowest 2.9C /weather - fine)

Mr.INOUE, executive vice-president of the All Nippon Airline, visited Yamagata prefectural office. He had a meeting about the flight from Yamagata to Tokyo. They have a plan of stopping to fly. He said that they have a flight only 1 per a day from June. And he said that it is examined in the direction which isn't made suspension (=abolition) at once though it doubted suspension (=abolition) about the one after

In December the Yamagata Shinkansen(bullet express) will run to Shinjou city. Many people thought whether a flight to Tokyo will stop after December. But he said that they consider not to stop the flight soon. It feels inconvenience to become only a flight per a day. And the users of the airplane must decrease when the Yamagata Shinkansen(bullet express) will be opened. This is proved in Sendai city when the Tohoku Shinkansen was opened. It is a little worried about whether to hold only 1 flight per a day.

Mar. 17 (Wed.) Exhibition of Wakamatsukama (the highest 15.7C /the lowest 0.8C /weather - cloudy)

On the way to the temple Jyakusyouji, which is known as God of the connection, there is a Tendouyaki Wakamatsukama. Here we can experience to make the pottery. And those works are displayed at the geen tee store "Ryokuchaen" in central Tendo. At this exhibition, they display about 200 works of "Wakamatsu Blue" which an original glaze is used for. We can see them by Mar.24(Wed.).

By the way, Mr.Junichi SAGAE, ceramist, moved this Wakamatsu area for the work position because there was an oven mark of the maximum class near here in Yamagata Prefecture inside.

Mar. 16 (Tue.) Development of Kuwanomachi start in August (the highest 12.9C /the lowest 3.3C /weather - fine)

Development as a new tourist position proceeds in a Kuwanomachi area, spread out in the south of Tendo Onsen(spa). Private exterprise "Tohoku Pioneer" and "Yamako" have the prospects that the start of the construction will gegin in August.

Tendo City will build a multipurpose open space and an interchange hall. The mayor in Tendo asserted to prepare a multipurpose open space in the 11th year of Heisei(1999). And he wanted to hold the spring event "Ningen Shogi"(Human Japanese Chess Game) there insted of Mt. Maizuru.

But there is a problem. If they hold the "Ningen Shogi" there, I think they have to build a seat like a stadium. We can watch down from the top because there are seats which is stairs-shaped at Mt.Maizuru. We cannot watch it at the flat field.

Mar. 15 (Mon.) Training of a volunteer tourist guide (the highest 7.6C /the lowest -0.8C /weather - cloudy)

In December, the Yamagata Shinkansen(bullet train) gets over Yamagata station and comes to Tendo station. Some member of a city council asked about training of a volunteer tourist guide. The mayor in Tendo replied that they will examine it. The tourist volunteer guide is FREE guiding service for tourists. They show tourists the sight of Tendo. Some cities execute this system in Yamagata prefecure.

But it is very difficult to teach staffs about guiding. Even if the execution of the tourist volunteer guide is decided as the formal style, it will be about 2 or 3 years necessary as a prepartion period.
